A new film about disability, Musical Chairs, starring Leah Pipes and E.J. Bonilla, is set to have a limited opening in the U.S. on March 23. It is the story of a couple who enters a ballroom dancing competition for disabled people after the woman becomes disabled in an accident. The film has been criticized ahead of its release for not using disabled actors, although public response has been quite enthusiastic. I interviewed its male star, E.J. Bonilla (The Guiding Light) and here are his thoughts on the film.

Responsible for the formation of MobileWOMEN.org, she is credited for enpowering women with disabilities with useful knowledge regarding their life circumstaces. Presently, wendy photo 1 she is the Chairperson of Women Without Limits, United Spinal Association's Women's Advisory Committee. She was a co-founder and on the Board of Directors of a unique non-profit organization, Discovery Through Design. She participated in the Raw Beauty Project, "an innovative visual arts project designed to inspire the public to create new perceptions, transform stereotypes and breakthrough personal obstacles by expanding awareness of women with physical challenges," featuring women undeterred by their physical disabilities. Last year, she was named CareCure's newest moderator. For the last twenty-five years, the list of Wendy Crawford's achievements has been seemingly endless.

"I hope that they see me as more than just the woman on television in the wheelchair."

Since 1998, Joanne has been the Host and a Producer of the CBC television show "Moving On." In its first year, "Moving On" won a Gemini Award as the Best Lifestyle Information Series on Canadian television. The television show has won four Bronze Plaques at The Columbus International Film Festival and has garnered Finalist Certificates and Awards at the New York Film Festivals.

"Moving On" is the only network television program of its kind in North America whose sole focus is addressing the lifestyles, solutions, attitudes, issues, adventures, and empowerment of people with disabilities. Joanne feels that it's "extremely important to have a show specifically targeting a population that is grossly underserved and underrepresented in the television landscape." She and "Moving On" seem to be inextricably linked, and Joanne feels "very proud and lucky to be associated with such a unique show!"
